# Oracle & Circuit Breakers

How Hypotheca detects abnormal market conditions and pauses borrowing before oracle or price instability can propagate.

Borrowing depends on market conditions that remain acceptable at execution time.

Hypotheca uses real-time feeds through Chainlink or an equivalent oracle source. Its circuit breakers pause borrowing when the defined price or feed conditions are not met.

| Condition                           | Response           | Purpose                                     |
| ----------------------------------- | ------------------ | ------------------------------------------- |
| 5% deviation between oracle sources | Pause              | Stops borrowing when sources diverge        |
| 15% price movement within one hour  | Global borrow halt | Stops borrowing during sharp price movement |
| Feed stale for more than 60 minutes | Pause              | Stops borrowing on outdated price data      |

These controls are execution safety conditions. They are separate from the borrower's credit score and do not use a credit-score calculation.
